Dear Muse

Dear Muse,
The days of Winter are closed and Spring has arrived. Interesting how the cold days hang on for a bit longer, the warm days fighting their way to the front of the line. The birds are coming back in droves, and have been watching them arrive daily. I saw my first robin of Spring sometime last week or so, and now the starlings are attempting to roost in our back porch roof again this year. We tried to stop them by blocking the openings but they've found a way in. Mother Nature is unstoppable....
Muse, I'm being called to wrap up loose ends with unfinished projects these days. It feels gratifying to complete something but yet not quite fulfilling to be finished when I turn and look at the pile that still waits for me to work my way to the bottom. Do I become discouraged about working those projects to completion, especially when I want to dive into another? Yes and yet I know that completion of one endeavor before moving into the realm of manifesting another is necessary to my creative abilities, otherwise it only clouds my windshield view on life and pushes me to procrastinate.
I feel and hear the winds of change blowing through the trees today, ushering in a new time to come. Sometimes I feel like a pre-emerged butterfly, shaking and morphing, waiting....

Dear Muse

These are the days to remember. Although this picture is almost two years old, I love finding my little one's pictures to share with others; they grow so fast, my friend and they don't stay small for very long!
So, I'm working on research for an article, focusing on history, small business, and modernization of a historical technique without destroying it, to fit it to my current business ventures. No details to release, as this is in the beginning stages of work, and as an element I adopted while in college, I'll keep it under wraps until its time to reveal. I can hardly wait to post!
I'm also finishing a story on grandmothers, a spin off of a story I did just a little bit back from the present. I've not heard from my earlier submission but no worries; some submits take longer than others.
Fiber work has always been a huge part of my life, as you well know, and I'm currently working through the written list and the never-ending pile of projects to work on and finish. Its funny how new ideas and "Oooo, I want to try that!" adds another project to the pile of fiber work to be worked on. Be it crochet, knit, sewing, etc....I love the meditative process I find myself in the midst of when working the needles....
Ahhh....the sun is shining and spring is almost here, my friend...inspiration is abounding.
As Ever,
~Pearl

Hey, Pearl! Look What I Found!

Dear Pearl,
Good to hear from you, too! Great to know that you received my message and feel inspired to start again. I was going through some of your work you left years ago, and wondered if you remembered this image? It still blows me away how you created this image. Great use of the 1940's photo but to know how you did it was something! Do you remember?
I think you spent the month of October on this image, just to make sure you were happy with the results. Watching you work nothing more than paper and charcoal was...sometimes, its hard to me to put into words watching an artist work. Its like being a mother watching a child grow and achieve, from the time of being a baby to the moment you watch them walk out the door to start their own lives. Pearl, watching you grow over the years, even when you were in your undergrad program just a few years ago.....it was awesome....and to catch up with you again I think will be equally wonderful, especially to recapture those lost years of your new journey into motherhood. Can't wait to hear those stories.
Pearl, sharing your work, past and present, is wonderful. Here's to life, Pearl!
Eternally Yours,
~The Muse

Dear Muse

Dear Muse,
It was great to hear from you! How long has it been now? Almost three years since we worked together, let alone see each other? Time has passed and many, many things have happened along the way. So much to catch up on with you....
My days of dancing have kind of taken a back seat, along with my visual artistic endeavors. I've been busy with functional arts, along with the everchanging landscaping of motherhood. Interesting enough, I found through the web, a wonderful way of recapturing what it means to be creative. Oh Muse, would you believe there are so many definitions of what it means to be creative? I would have never given it very much thought but there I was, realizing one day while staring out the kitchen window, I was being creative even without picking up chalk or a pencil to manifest an image. It helped me to truly appreciate what I do as a mother, something I enjoy beyond words.
Ahhhh, Muse; I've missed you and so glad to hear your voice the other night. I look forward to maintaining your shining light as a beacon to find moments for myself to be creative and to appreciate whatever creative endeavor I move along with; no plans this time yet keeping in mind to weave my creativity into life, or is it already doing that and I have to step back to see it? I suppose time will reveal itself as to how it will all work out.
As Ever,
~Pearl
